Take on a mountain outdoor challenge like no other!

HonisterFest is a whole day of extreme activities including a unique fell run, gravel bike time trial and a team challenge followed by live music and Cumbrian food into the evening.

‘HonisterFest’ is all about the social side of getting outdoors and Lake District mountain experience. After the challenges above and below ground, get your groove on and relax at the Slate Shindig with live music, hog roast and bar from 6pm-midnight.

Helping to keep your body and soul in tune, there will be sport massages and holistic treatments using Reiki and reflexology available throughout the day.

The event is not for profit with donations being made to local charities Keswick Lions and Amy’s Care.

We are delighted to be working with KONG running, Keswick Mountain Bikes, Cyclewise, Fluid Productions and Keswick Brewery to bring you this totally new event for 2019.

The Grueller Bike Hill Climb: 15:30

Our bike hill climb Time Trial requires stamina, determination and consistency. Are your legs up to the gravel challenge? Who will be crowned King or Queen of our hill? The time trail will run from 15:30 with participants setting off at intervals through the day.

Ticket:  £35pp. Includes entry to Slate Shindig (6pm- Midnight).
In partnership with Cyclewise and Keswick Mountain Bikes.

8K Bowels of Fleetwith Fell Run: 16:00

Unlike any Fell run you’ve ever done before. Take on three summits – Dale Head, Fleetwith, Grey Knott – go deep inside the caverns of the mountain through mine tunnels, up a stepped incline to reach daylight before ascending to the summit and crossing Moses Trodd and decending to Honister Slate Mine, the finish.

Hard hats will be provided for the tunnel section, or you can bring your own. Competitors are encouraged to bring a headtorch as there will be low lighting levels inside the mine.

Ticket:  £25pp (Race only). Options to add the Slate Shindig £10 and The Grueller £5.
In partnership with KONG running.

Honister Team Challenge: 16:00

Defender Drag |  Pond Plunge  |  Cast the Clog  | Surprise challenge

Which team will be crowned the champions? You’ll need strength, skills and pure grit to tackle the challenges from pulling a Landrover Defender, plunging into the pond, throwing a traditional miners clog and the surprise challenge. Each team will collect points and be ranked against the others with prizes to be won for the highest scores.

Tickets: £20 per team of 4 people. Team Challenger Offer > Buy three Slate Shindig tickets and get 1 free.

Slate Shindig Après-Race: 18:00-Midnight

Wind down after your mountain challenges with our ‘Après-Race’. Enjoy Cumbrian food and live music from two of our favourite local bands surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Lake District. Bringing their blues, funk and soul grooves to the fells Bowie, Beak and Powney start the evening followed by The Kasios with a mix of popular covers bound to get everyone up and dancing.
