Not exactly. Both involve exploring gorges and waterfalls, but canyoning uses ropes and abseiling. Ghyll Scrambling focuses on climbing, sliding, and jumping through water — it’s more accessible and great for groups.
No. Unlike canyoning or abseiling, Ghyll Scrambling doesn’t involve ropes or harnesses. It’s all about moving naturally through the water, guided safely by our instructors.
They’re essentially the same activity. “Ghyll” is a Cumbrian word for a mountain stream, while “Gorge Walking” is the more common UK term.
Yes — it takes place in the same location as our previous canyoning activity, but it’s now designed as a more fun, hands-on scrambling experience.
You’ll kit up at Honister Slate Mine, then drive to our nearby ghyll site in Borrowdale, one of the Lake District’s most stunning natural settings.
