Food & Drink
Fuel for the mountain. Reward after it.
The Bait Cabin Café
Perched at the top of Honister Pass, fuelling adventurers since day one. Hot food, homemade cakes and a view that makes every bite taste better.
The Yew Tree Pub
One of Cumbria's oldest pubs, sitting at the foot of the pass since 1628. Locally sourced gastro food, real ales and a fire that's always lit.
A view worth every step
You've earned this. Whether you're looking out from the café across one of England's highest mountain passes or sitting in the riverside beer garden at the Yew Tree, the backdrop is the Lake District at its most spectacular. There aren't many places you can refuel like this.
Proper food, properly made
No reheated shortcuts here. From hearty homemade soups and freshly baked cakes at the Bait Cabin to gastropub dishes built around the best of Cumbrian produce at the Yew Tree, every plate is made with the same care we bring to everything at Honister. Fuel up before. Celebrate after. Either works.
Everyone's welcome here
Dogs, families, muddy boots and all. Whether you've just come off the Via Ferrata or you're stopping by without an adventure booked, both venues are open to all. The Yew Tree is dog-friendly with its own canine menu. The Bait Cabin has baby changing facilities and plenty of space. No judgement, just a warm welcome and something good to eat.
