  • Any changes made outside of 48 hours are subject to a £10 admin fee, only 1 change may be made.
  • Under 16s can participate but an adult must be present on site. Adults must sign disclaimers and accept responsibility for any under 16s in their group on climbing activities.
  • Minimum age for Honister’s Via Ferrata, is 10 years old and 1.3m tall, with the Climb the Mine being 8 and 1.3m tall and Infinity Bridge being 8 years old and 1.25m Tall
  • Maximum body weight for all participants on climbing adventures is 18 stone/120 KG
  • We don’t offer refunds, but if you need to cancel more than 48 hours in advance, you can rebook your adventure for another date within 12 months

Terms and Conditions for Honister’s Via Ferrata Classic, Via Ferrata Xtreme, Climb the Mine & Infinity Bridge
  1. General
    1.1 These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to the booking of Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge.
    1.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions contain important information about participation by you and members of your party and accordingly you acknowledge and agree that all members of your party are aware of and accept these Booking Terms and Conditions
    1.3 No variation of these Booking Terms and Conditions will be binding unless agreed in writing by Honister Slate Mine
    1.4 Any typographical clerical or other error or omission in any booking confirmation or other documentation issued by Honister Slate Mine (including any electronic documentation) shall be subject to correction without any liability on the part of Honister Slate Mine
    1.5 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to make changes to Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge whether to conform with any applicable safety or other statutory requirements or otherwise
    1.6 We may send you marketing information outside of our usual booking confirmations to keep you up to date  on news and special offers within Honister Slate Mine LTD, your details will not be shared with any other company.
  2. Booking Confirmation
    2.1 No booking shall be deemed to have been accepted unless accepted in writing or otherwise confirmed by Honister
    Slate Mine or its authorized agents (which shall include e-mail confirmation of booking)
    2.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions incorporate Honister Slate Mine’s Risk Acknowledgement and Disclaimer. You and each member of your party will be required to sign the Risk Acknowledgement and Disclaimer before being allowed to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge.
    2.3 You must advise Honister Slate Mine as soon as possible of any mistake in any booking confirmation. Honister Slate Mine will use its best endeavors to ensure that you and your party’s participation commences at the time booked and it shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they arrive in sufficient time. Late arrivals may not be permitted to participate, and no refunds or compensation will be payable in such circumstances
  3. Health and Safety
    3.1 Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge is a physically challenging activity and participation is not without risk as a fall could be fatal. All participants will receive detailed safety briefing from an instructor who will guide the activity.
    3.2 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation or to remove a participant from Honister’s Via Ferrata
    should it deem it necessary to do so. This includes a participant who does not comply with the safety rules and advice or
    the safety system or who is deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    3.3 For the duration of Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge participants will be supervised by an instructor. Under 16s can participate but an adult must be present on site. Adults must sign disclaimers and accept responsibility for any under 16s in their group on climbing activities.
    3.4 Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge is physically demanding and challenging but does not require a high level of body strength. All participants in Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge must be reasonably fit and healthy, a minimum of 1m 30/ 4ft 3inches tall, at least 10 years old and must weigh less than 18 stones/ 120kg with a waist (above the navel) measuring not more than 110cm/43 inches and thighs measuring not more than 70cm/27 inches. If your measurements are close to or exceed these figures you may not fit in a harness and therefore will not be able to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge. Anyone who does not meet these requirements will not be allowed to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party meet these requirements.
    3.5 All participants are required to wear a safety harness and helmet provided by Honister Slate Mine. Participants’ own equipment cannot be used for insurance reasons.
    3.6 Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge is physically demanding and requires a degree of agility, strength and stamina. If participants are in any doubt as to whether they should attempt Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge they should speak to a member of staff of Honister Slate Mine and/or watch the various video clips on the website of Honister Slate Mine www.honister.com. If participants have any medical concerns they are advised to consult their doctor in advance of booking. Participants will be required to certify that they do not suffer from any medical condition which would make it more likely that they would be involved in any incident which could result in injury to themselves or others. Due to the physical nature of Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge Honister Slate Mine recommends that pregnant women should not participate. Pregnant women who still wish to participate will be required to sign a disclaimer confirming that they are aware that there are risks to them and their unborn child and that participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge is at their own risk
    3.7 Participants need to be able to see similar distances to those required to drive a motor vehicle in order to be able to complete Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge and to supervise any children under their care
    3.8 All participants are required to act responsibly and courteously at all times and to respect other participants. Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to prevent any person from participating in or completing Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge in the event that it deems the behavior of any participant unsuitable
    3.9 Participants must be dressed appropriately (see clause 4 below) and Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation to any participant who is not appropriately dressed
    3.10 Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge will remain open in most weather conditions
    3.11  No refunds or compensation or postponement will be payable or permitted by Honister Slate Mine in the event that any participant is not permitted to or decides not to undertake or complete Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge for the reasons set out in this clause
  4. Clothing
    4.1 It shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they are dressed appropriately.
    4.2 Participants should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions and which they do not mind getting wet dirty or even damaged. Short or loose-fitting shorts and tops are not recommended as harnesses can rub and chafe. The following restrictions shall apply:
    4.2.1 Long hair must be tied back so that it does not hinder the close fitting or straps of the helmet
    4.2.2 Participants must wear footwear which surrounds and encloses the whole foot and has a good grip. No sandals slip on shoes, open toed shoes or canvas/cotton shoes are permitted. Honister Slate Mine recommends ankle supporting boots
    4.2.3 Waists must be covered and body piercings removed securely covered or taped over
    4.2.4 Personal items such as rucksacks and drink bottles should be securely attached to the participant in such a way that they do not impede the harness or helmet
    4.3 Honister Slate Mine will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of clothing or other personal items resulting from participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge.
  5. Photography
    5.1 Photography is not permitted while participating in Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge.
    5.2 A photo package will be available to purchase at the end of the participants Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge experience.
  6. Cancellations
    6.1 You shall be entitled to cancel your booking subject to Honister Slate Mine receiving your request for cancellation at least 48 hours before the booked start time. Any requests for cancellation must be made by e-mail to info@honister.com. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause, but no refund or compensation shall be payable
    6.2 Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to cancel your booking at any time. If Honister Slate Mine decides to cancel your booking it shall use its best endeavors to notify you as soon as possible. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause but no refund or compensation shall be payable
    6.3 In the event that it proves necessary to close Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge for reasons beyond the control of Honister Slate Mine and in circumstances where you have commenced participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge you shall not be entitled to any refund in part or in whole. In such circumstances Honister Slate Mine may but shall not be obliged to offer alternative dates or times at reduced rates
  7. Price and Payment methods
    7.1 Payment in full at Honister Slate Mine’s current rates shall be due at the time of booking
    7.2 Payment can be made by debit or credit card either online or by contacting the booking line on 017687 77230
  8. Liability
    8.1 Except as otherwise provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions Honister Slate Mine shall not be responsible for the loss or damage of or to any property or to any person arising from the booking or participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata , Climb the Mine and Infinity Bridge.
    8.2 Parking facilities are available at Honister Slate Mine and any vehicles are left at the owner’s risk and subject to any terms and conditions and the payment of any fees as may be required
    8.3   Except as provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions any liability of Honister Slate Mine shall be limited to any charges paid to Honister Slate Mine
    8.4 Nothing in these Booking Terms and Conditions is intended to or shall limit the liability of Honister Slate Mine in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Honister Slate Mine or of its employees agents or contractors
  9. Interpretation
    9.1 If any term or condition is determined to be illegal invalid or otherwise unenforceable it shall be severed and deleted from these Booking Terms and Conditions and the remaining terms and conditions shall survive remain in full force and continue to be binding and enforceable
    9.2 Nothing above shall confer on any third party any benefit or right to enforce any of these Booking Terms and Conditions
    9.3 These Booking Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and Honister Slate Mine submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales

 

HONISTER MINE TOURS & GROTTO TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  1. General
    1.1 These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to the booking of Honister’s Kimberley, Edge and Cathedral Mine Tours (Honister Slate Mine) and Honister’s Santa’s Secret Grotto Adventure
    1.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions contain important information about participation by you and members of your party and accordingly you acknowledge and agree that all members of your party are aware of and accept these Booking Terms and Conditions

    3.7 No refunds or compensation or postponement will be payable or permitted by Honister Slate Mine in the event that any participant is not permitted to or decides not to undertake or complete Honister’s Mine Tours for the reasons set out in this clause

Honister Slate Mine Ltd – Booking Protection– Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction 

Honister Slate Mine Ltd. provides this Booking Protection It is designed to offer protection for certain unforeseen events that may impact your ability to participate in any or all our activities. By purchasing booking protection, you agree to these terms and conditions. 

2. Definitions 

  • Travel Disruption: Unforeseen road closures due to accidents on the road, police diversions, or mechanical faults with the participants' vehicles. 
  • Medical Emergency: An event unrelated to pre-existing medical conditions that lead to the participant being hospitalised, injured, and/or undergo surgery.  
  • Activity/Activities:  Activities refers to any paid activity here on site including but not limited to Mine Tours, Via Ferrata Extreme, Via Ferrata Classic, Infinity Bridge, Climb the Mine, Canyoning, All Day Pass, Adrenaline Pass, Santa’s Grotto, and other bespoke packages. This is outlined in the booking confirmation. 
  • Claim: Honister Slate Mine Ltd will refund the claimant for up to the full amount of their order if the conditions of the booking protection are met. No other expenses are covered by this booking protection other than the cost of the booking. 
  • Claimant Negligence: Booking terms and conditions include the participant's aim to arrive 30 minutes before the activity is due to take place, failure to arrive in time to an activity due to lack of planning will not be covered in the Booking Protection. 
  • Accident: A bodily injury confirmed by a doctor that prevents you from attending the booked event. 
  • Doctor: A qualified medical practitioner who is: 

 - Registered with the General Medical Council or other professional accredited body and practising in the UK or registered with the appropriate authority and who practices in the country in which you reside if you are not resident in the UK.  

The doctor in question cannot be you, a member of the booked group or your immediate family. 

  • Emergency Services: The Police, Fire and Rescue Service or Emergency Medical Services. 
  • Illness: A physical or mental condition confirmed by a doctor that prevents you from attending the booked event 
  • Immediate Family: Your husband, wife, partner, civil partner, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, parent-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law 

3. General Booking Protection Conditions 

3.1 Eligibility 

This booking protection is available for all orders processed by Honister Slate Mine Ltd. Protection is only effective upon full payment of the booking protection premium and confirmation of the booking with the order number provided by the claimant. 

3.2 Taking Care  

A person must take all necessary measures to prevent any situations that could lead to a claim under this booking protection. This involves making appropriate changes to travel schedules, considering that participants are required to arrive 30 minutes before the start of an activity. The individual is required to take all reasonable care to protect themselves as if they did not have the protection and follow the general booking terms and conditions accordingly. Failure to Take Care may result in a claim being denied by Honister Slate Mine Ltd.  

3.3 Liability  

As stated in the terms and conditions which are agreed at the time of booking, Annex B of this booking protection is agreed.  

4. Claims Conditions 

  • Fraud: If you make any false claims, misrepresentation, concealment, or dishonest statements in obtaining the booking protection or in support of any claim; the protection will be void and all rights in relation to the claim will be lost. 
  • Making A Claim: Please check the Booking Protection Wording to see whether you have protection. Remember to keep relevant booking receipts and order confirmation details as they will be required when making your claim.  
  • Multiple Orders: A claim may only be submitted in relation to the specific activity order that was purchased at the same time as the associated Booking Protection. Booking Protection applies exclusively to the activities included within that same transaction. Any additional activity tickets purchased by the claimant under a separate order number, even if for the same date or participants, will not be covered by Booking Protection linked to a different order. 
  • Claimant: The individual making a claim must be the person who completed the booking, not another member of the attending party if applicable. 
  • To Make a Claim: Please ensure to contact the bookings line when making a claim. Email: Bookings@honister.com  Tel: 01768777230 opt one. Full details of the claim must be presented and supporting documentation may be requested during the refund process.  
  • Resolution: Where a claimant is prevented from attending an activity due to a circumstance listed under the ‘Covered Events’ section, Honister Slate Mine Ltd shall, in the first instance, offer either (a) the option to reschedule the activity to an alternative available date, or (b) a voucher to the value of the full or pro-rata amount of the tickets originally purchased, as determined by the number of affected participants. Any voucher issued shall be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue and may be redeemed against eligible activities, subject to availability and standard booking terms. 

Only in the event that both rescheduling and voucher options are declined by the claimant, or where Honister Slate Mine Ltd determines that neither option is reasonably feasible, shall the claimant be entitled to proceed with a refund claim, which will be assessed in accordance with the Booking Protection terms and supporting evidence requirements. 

5. Protection & Covered Events 

The booking protection provides protection for the following covered events: 

  • Cancellation due to Weather: Honister Slate Mine Ltd holds the right to cancel any of our activities if they are deemed to be unsafe due to adverse weather conditions. For example, an electrical storm, or high winds. Refer to Annex A – Cancellation Policy. If Honister Slate Mine Ltd makes the decision to cancel an activity due to adverse weather conditions including but not limited to natural disasters or severe weather conditions that prevent the activity from taking place include but are not limited to electrical storms, gale force winds, flooding, arctic conditions. This may also include events where the Met Office, Police or other Government agency have issued a specific warning to not travel which is specific to the location of Honister Slate Mine Ltd or to the location of the claimant.  
  • Travel Disruption: If the participant is unable to attend their booking due to travel disruptions causing the participant(s) to miss their activity time. This includes but is not limited to mechanical faults with the claimant’s vehicle(s), failure of the public transport network, sudden road closures that were not previously public knowledge (e.g. in the event of an emergency). Receipt of travel tickets, vehicle recovery report, garage repair bill, confirmation from insurers or travel company may be required upon making a claim. 
  • Medical Emergency: If the participant or a member of their party is unable to attend a booking due to a sudden medical emergency for example illness or injury which may affect their ability to take part in the activity; death of the claimant, an immediate family member, or a group member attending the booked activity. A medical note from a doctor may be required during the claim process.  
  • Emergency Incident: An incident or event involving the claimant and/or emergency services including ambulance, police, and fire services to the individual's residence or property up within 2 weeks before the activity is due to take place. 
  • Commitments: This includes but is not limited to; being called to jury service, summoned as a witness in court, being a member of the armed forces and being posted abroad/having leave cancelled unexpectantly after the date of booking, being a member of the emergency services (police, ambulance, fire services) then being required to attend an emergency or leave cancelled without prior knowledge. Evidence of leave cancellation, summons to court, summons to jury service may be required at the time of the claim to show that these were not known prior to booking.  
  • Pregnancy: If Honister Slate Mine Ltd or a doctor deems it not advisory to take part in an activity if you or a group member is pregnant or if you find out you or a group member are pregnant after making a booking. This is only applicable to those taking part in the activity.  
  • Other events as deemed appropriate by Honister Slate Mine Ltd after a review of the claim.  

7. Exclusions 

This booking protection does not cover: 

  • Any third-party organisations that distribute vouchers or external activity providers. 
  • Any activity vouchers bought from Honister Slate Mine Ltd. 
  • This booking protection strictly applies to activity tickets and does not apply to any physical items purchased at Honister Slate Mine Ltd. This includes but is not limited to slate shop items, merchandise, food, and beverages served from The Bait Cabin Café or Shop here at Honister Slate Mine Ltd. 
  • Any illness or injury caused by pre-existing medical conditions that may prevent you or any attending member of the group from taking part in an activity.  
  • Travel disruptions caused by the claimant’s negligence; if in our reasonable opinion, you did not allow sufficient time to arrive for the activity due to lack of planning.  
  • Any situation that was known or potentially anticipated at the time of booking such as travel delays that were public knowledge, commitments, medical appointments, weather forecast.  
  • If you cannot provide evidence of your booking confirmation e.g. order number, confirmation email, correct booking information. 
  • If you conduct a criminal act that prevents you from embarking on the journey to our site for your booking.  
  • If you are refused, for any reason, to take part in your booking upon arrival which includes but is no limited to; being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, insufficient clothing or footwear, not being tall enough for the activity, exceeding the weight limit,  
  • If you or a group member chooses to discontinue the activity due to the participant's loss of enjoyment or physical limitations to complete the activity or if you or a group member refuse to take part in the activity upon arrival. 
  • If you cannot provide sufficient documentation upon request by Honister Slate Mine Ltd when processing a claim request. 
  • If you make a fraudulent claim against this booking protection, all claims will be considered void. 
  • After the Fact: The claimant is required to take all reasonable steps to notify Honister Slate Mine Ltd as soon as practicable upon becoming aware of any circumstance that may prevent attendance at a booked activity. For the purposes of this clause, ‘as soon as practicable’ means at the earliest reasonable opportunity and, where possible, prior to the scheduled activity start time. Honister Slate Mine Ltd reserves the right to refuse any claim where notification of non-attendance, cancellation, or a covered event is received only after the activity has taken place, including where the activity proceeded without some or all booked participants.  

8. Governing Law 

This booking protection shall be governed by and construed by the laws of the United Kingdom. 

9. Amendments 

Honister Slate Mine Ltd reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to the purchaser of the booking protection via email or other appropriate means. 

10. Annexes 

10.1 - Annex A – Cancellation Policy– The terms and conditions of our cancellation booking protection are agreed at the time of booking.  

6.1 You shall be entitled to cancel your booking subject to Honister Slate Mine receiving your request for cancellation at least 48 hours before the booked start time. Any cancellation requests must be made by e-mail to info@honister.com. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause, but no refund or compensation shall be payable (Amendment - unless the booking holder has purchased the booking protection at the time of booking) 

6.2 Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to cancel your booking at any time. If Honister Slate Mine decides to cancel your booking it shall use its best endeavours to notify you as soon as possible. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause, but no refund or compensation shall be payable (Amendment - unless the booking holder has purchased the booking protection at the time of booking) 

10.2 - Annex B – Liability – This booking protection strictly applies to activity bookings. 

8.1 Except as otherwise provided in the Booking Terms and Conditions Honister Slate Mine shall not be responsible for the loss or damage of or to any property or to any person arising from the booking or participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata, Climb the mine and infinity bridge. 

8.2 Parking facilities are available at Honister Slate Mine and any vehicles are left at the owner’s risk and subject to any terms and conditions and the payment of any fees as may be required. 

8.3   Except as provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions any liability of Honister Slate Mine shall be limited to any charges paid to Honister Slate Mine 

8.4 Nothing in these Booking Terms and Conditions is intended to or shall limit the liability of Honister Slate Mine in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Honister Slate Mine or of its employees’ agents or contractors. 

11. Data Protection Notice 

Your privacy is important to us. We collect and process your data to manage your booking and provide protection services. This data may include your name, contact details, and payment information. We will not share your information with third parties without your consent, except as required by law. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data at any time.  

12. Complaints Procedure  

If you have a complaint regarding your booking or our protection services, please follow these steps: 

  1. Contact Us: Reach out to our customer service team at 01768777230 or Bookings@honister.com  within 30 days of the issue. 
  2. Provide Details: Include your booking reference and a description of your complaint. 
  3. Response: We aim to acknowledge your complaint within five business days and will provide a full response within fifteen business days.
