Prentice Wilkinson-Weir

Prentice’s role spans every corner of Honister, from recruitment and marketing to helping in the café or driving the bus. Having grown up around the mine, he’s passionate about its people and unique character. Outside work, he enjoys paragliding, fell walking, and making the most of the Lake District outdoors.

Piers Wilkinson-Weir

Piers manages Honister’s blasting operations, slate extraction, and workshop production, ensuring the mine runs safely and efficiently. Having grown up at Honister after his father reopened the mine in 1996, he’s proud to continue its legacy. Outside work, he enjoys skiing, live music, and making the most of mountain adventures.

Gnash Baxter

As General Manager, Gnash oversees Honister’s day-to-day operations, from health and safety to developing unforgettable visitor experiences. Having built the Via Ferrata and Infinity Bridge, he’s passionate about the outdoors and loves seeing visitors leave with lasting memories of our unique Lake District destination.

Holly McClary

Holly oversees both the Yew Tree Restaurant and Honister café, keeping operations running smoothly while supporting the team, and can often be found helping make slate products. She loves Honister’s spectacular setting and spends her free time walking with her Vizsla, and making the most of the great outdoors.

Dan Hartley

Dan leads Honister’s café, serving freshly made food while ensuring every visitor receives a warm welcome. A passionate ultra runner, he thrives on endurance challenges and long days in the fells. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters, balancing family life with his love of the outdoors.

Jessica Hebson

Jessica focuses on growing Honister by building strong relationships and creating new opportunities to showcase everything the site has to offer. She loves the team’s ambition to embrace new ideas while protecting Honister’s heritage. Outside work, she enjoys hiking, cycling, and wild swimming with her dog, Panda.

Scott Rose

Scott oversees Honister’s accounts while also lending a hand across the business, from driving the bus to leading mine tours and supporting the shop. After 10 years with the company, he enjoys the variety of the role and spending his free time mountain biking, trail running, and exploring the Lake District with his wife & two dogs.

Lauren Beaty

Lauren oversees Honister’s slate production operations, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently. After 10 years with the company, she loves the team’s passion, family spirit, and willingness to get stuck in. Outside work, she enjoys cycling, adventures with her dog Nala, and balancing the gym with time at the pub.
